About Jim Beaubien, Ph.D., CSP, HOF

Jim is a psychologist by training and a speaker, consultant and facilitator by choice. He describes himself as an academic with 'dirt under his fingernails'. In addition to his work as a speaker, consultant and facilitator, Jim teaches for the

  • MBA program at the University of Alberta


  • MAOM/MAOD program at the Fielding Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara


  • Physician Manager Institute, an innovative physician leadership education program offered by the Canadian Medical Association.

He is past faculty for the Society of Certified Management Accountants' Strategic Leadership Program which prepares candidates for the CMA designation.

Jim brings his academic and real world experience to his work as a speaker and consultant. His up-to-date knowledge, practical experience and engaging style, consistently please his clients. They find his knowledge, warmth, story telling and humor engaging. They appreciate his ability to explain complex concepts in simple language they can understand, remember and apply.

Jim has shared his knowledge, skills and wisdom with audiences throughout North America. He has given more than 1500 presentations since founding his business in 1973. In addition, he has spent more than 2500 days working with corporations, associations and nonprofits on consulting projects. Jim develops ongoing relationships with many of his clients and they continue to invite him back year after year because they know they can count on him to deliver results.

As a speaker, Jim delivers practical leading edge material people can use to optimize performance and improve results. As a consultant, he helps his clients Achieve Positive Results Through People and Build Organizations That Work.

Jim is a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) and a member of the Canadian Speaking Hall of Fame. Students in the MBA program at the University of Alberta jointly selected him and Karen Caesar as Professors of the Year for 2003. His Ph.D. is in Educational Psychology and he is a Chartered Psychologist (Alberta). He is the Past President of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers.
